A kid at the library asked me why my map had no farms

I was sketching my world map at a table in the children's section last Tuesday. A boy, maybe 8, pointed at a big empty plain and said, 'Where does the food come from?' I just stared at it. I had castles, mountains, forests, but no farms or fields. It made me realize I only put in the 'cool' stuff. I went home and added little farm plots and pastures near every town. Has anyone else had a simple question totally change how you build a place?

Spent $300 on a client contract template and it saved my business

Honestly that reminds me of when I used to do freelance writing and would totally forget to write down when I started a draft. Tbh I'd end up staring at a blank invoice trying to remember if I worked two hours or four on a Tuesday three weeks ago. It got so bad I started keeping a paper notebook next to my laptop just to scribble start and end times. Super boring system but it saved me from undercharging myself all the time.

Got a weird answer from a librarian in Boise that made me rethink how I ask for help

Yeah, I've totally been there. I once asked a hardware store guy where to find "the thing that goes on the pipe before the other twisty part" and his blank stare made me want to vanish. Now I just take a picture of the broken piece on my phone and show them, which feels way less stupid. Turns out they love that, because they don't have to play twenty questions with me. It's all about finding the right way to get past the word scramble in your own head.
