Shoutout to the sites that promise a link for content but ghost you after

In my experience, this happens so often that I've started to doubt if honest link building even exists anymore.

Seriously, it's like a rite of passage at this point. You send your best work, they act all excited, then poof, vanished into the void. I'm starting to think 'link building' is just code for 'free content harvesting'. The only thing they're consistent about is the ghosting. Maybe we should start sending invoices for our time, see how that goes.

Your mention of "vanished into the void" reminds me of a friend's experience. She wrote a long review for a company that reached out for a link building guest post. They praised her draft and said they'd publish it soon. Then, complete silence, no matter how many polite emails she sent. It left her feeling used and pretty angry. She learned to ask for a written agreement before doing any work now. That kind of ghosting just burns good will fast.

My portfolio includes several ghostwritten masterpieces that never saw the light of day. I once spent a week researching vintage bottle caps for a blog post that vanished into the ether. The follow-up emails are now just a sad collection in my sent folder. At this point, I consider 'link building' to be a creative writing exercise with no audience. The only thing I've built is a healthy skepticism for overly eager promises.
