A neighbor gave me seeds from a plant she called 'Grandma's tomato', but the packet had no name.
She said she'd saved them for 20 years, but now I'm not sure if I should plant them or stick with known varieties. Has anyone else gotten mystery seeds they decided to trust?

Oh man, I was totally the person who would only buy brand name seed packets. Then my uncle gave me some beans his dad always grew. I almost didn't plant them because it seemed risky. Tried a few hills anyway and they were the best green beans I've ever had. Now I always make room for at least one mystery plant. You might get a real treasure.

Just plant them and see what happens. It's not like you're betting your whole garden on it. Worst case you get some weird tomatoes.
