Rant: I used a cheap foam roller versus a proper mohair one on a table last week

The foam one left tiny bubbles in the lacquer that I had to sand out, adding two hours to the job. The mohair roller from a shop in Portland gave me a perfect, glass-smooth finish on the first pass. Has anyone else found a specific tool that saved them from a huge headache?

Cheap tools always cost more time in the end. I once tried using a bargain bin paintbrush that shed bristles all over a door. Ended up redoing the whole thing from scratch.

My buddy had a cheap wrench snap mid-job, @rivera.nathan.

Seriously, the whole door? That's brutal. Bargain tools can really backfire that hard. Never worth the hassle.
