Bought a $60 leather hole punch tool six years ago and it's still the best money I ever spent on fixing stuff.
I got it from a tiny hardware store in Portland after ruining two belts with a cheap punch, and now I use it for everything from watch straps to dog collars - has anyone else found one tool that just keeps paying for itself?

Six years is a solid run no doubt, but I've had the opposite luck with those things. Tried three different brands and they all ended up dull or the handle broke, ended up just using a cheap awl from the tool bin and a hammer instead. Maybe I grab bad batches but for belts and heavy straps I've never had a punch last more than a couple years without getting frustrated with it.

Yeah @grantthomas I feel that. My first punch went dull after like two years and I almost gave up on them entirely. Switched to a rotary punch instead and that thing has been a beast for belts and straps even with heavy use. Just gotta sharpen the little tubes sometimes with a tiny file, keeps it going way past what I expected.
