Switched my kraut from a wide mouth jar to a fido jar and the bubbling stopped being a mess

I had been fighting with brine leaking out of my regular mason jars every time I burped them, so I tried one of those German style fido jars with the rubber seal and a clamp, and the airlock action is way cleaner but I am worried about pressure buildup so has anyone dealt with that glass poppin off?

My last batch of sauerkraut in a fido jar actually popped the rubber seal on day 5. The pressure pushed the gasket right off the lip. I had cabbage juice all over my counter. Those jars just aren't made for active ferments like kraut or hot sauce. Mason jars might leak sometimes but at least they just burp without flying apart.

dude wade_hall that sucks so bad. I felt that rubber pop just reading it. last time I tried making hot sauce in one of those fido jars it shot brine all over my ceiling like a geyser. guess I'm the idiot who thought a glass jar with a rubber band could hold back a pepper ferment. my bad.
