Just realized leaving pads off eased soreness in a few of my cases

I had three horses with thin soles that stayed sore after we used pads every time. Honestly, I went without pads on the next shoeing, and all three moved better in days. Does anyone else find pads can be overused for protection?

Totally saw that with thrush cases, pads just trap moisture and make it worse.

Actually, my midwife SWEARS by cotton pads! She says letting things air out is key, but so is keeping the area clean and dry between changes. It really helped mine HEAL faster.
