Had a brand new rasp snap clean in half on a draft horse last Thursday. Do you think it was a bad tool or just too much pressure?

Ever think it was just bad luck with tools? I used to blame myself for pushing too hard every time something broke. Then I saw a farrier friend snap two brand new rasps from the same batch on normal horses, no crazy pressure. Changed my whole view. Now I'm convinced a lot of it is just bad steel or a weak spot from the factory. Sucks to waste the money, but it's probably not your fault.

Snap two brand new rasps on normal horses? That's wild. I'd be so mad dropping cash on tools that just give up like that. Makes you wonder how much stuff we buy is just waiting to break.
