Tried making a mountain range using salt dough for my map
I spent like 4 hours mixing flour, salt, and water to make this 3D mountain range for my fantasy map of Eldoria. Painted it all up nice with acrylics and it looked awesome until the next morning when the whole thing cracked like a dried up mud puddle. Turns out I used way too much salt and didn't let it dry slow enough. Anyone else have their DIY map supplies fail on them in some random way?

Oh man, I tried to make a volcano once for a D&D map out of playdough and baking soda. Left it on the counter overnight and my cat thought it was a new litter box. Woke up to paw prints and a very confused look on her face. The whole thing was just a crumbly, salty mess anyway after I tried to "bake" it in the oven on low. Now I just stick to drawing mountains flat on paper. At least my cat can't ruin that.

Can't really bake playdough, @lisar14. Low temp just dries it out and makes it crack. Next time try air dry clay instead. That stuff holds shape way better. And yeah, always cover your projects with a bowl or towel. Cats are sneaky like that. My buddy lost a whole batch of terrain pieces to his dog once. Learned the hard way.
