Why does nobody talk about the 500th door adjustment?

I hit that number yesterday on a bank of Kone elevators and it made me think about how much of our time is just fixing the same small thing over and over.

Hitting 500 door adjustments on a Kone bank is a special kind of career milestone. It really shows how our job is just a long, slow process of convincing the same piece of metal to behave. You become less of a technician and more of a door whisperer, hoping today's fix sticks for at least a week. I guess we're all just stuck in a loop, literally and figuratively. At least you get to add another tally to the wall of forgotten repairs.

That 500th door is basically the elevator's way of saying 'we're in a committed relationship now, you're not going anywhere' lol. You've probably spent more time with that door than most people spend with their pets. At least a dog listens sometimes, that door just does whatever it wants.
