Overheard a homeowner in Denver say they'd never pay for a whole-house surge protector

They called it a 'scare tactic'... makes me wonder how many folks are running expensive electronics without that basic layer of defense. What's the simplest way you explain the value to a skeptical customer?

Funny how people will buy a case for a $1,000 phone but scoff at protecting a house full of gear worth fifty times that. It's the same mindset that skips the $20 tire rotation until the $800 set is ruined. We're wired to react to broken things, not prevent the break. A nearby lightning strike or a grid hiccup from a downed line isn't a scare story, it's just bad luck waiting to fry a fridge, TV, or gaming setup all at once.

You know, @christopher_west1 is right about the reaction mindset. But people forget about the hidden stuff, like the furnace control board or the garage door opener. Replacing a fried TV is one thing, but try getting a HVAC tech out during a freeze because a surge took out your heat. That's a whole different level of expensive and miserable.
