Just realized I wasted $200 on a torque wrench I never needed

Bought a fancy digital torque wrench for those big gear terminations on a 480V switchgear install three months ago... turned out the old beam-style one I had was dead on the whole time. Stupid impulse buy when I was already in the supply house rushing. Anyone else ever grab a tool they barely touched and felt like you lit cash on fire?

That pipe bender story hits close to home lol. I've got a 3/4" bender in my garage that I bought specifically for one EMT run three years ago and it's still in the plastic wrap. You're right though, half my tool collection is just me panicking at the supply house counter and grabbing stuff I think I'll need but never touch again.

Man that stings. I did the same thing with a pipe bender a few years back, bought it for one job that ended up getting canceled, and it's been sitting in my garage ever since collecting dust. The worst part is I already had a bender that would've worked for most stuff, just not that specific conduit size I needed for a week. Then the project got scrapped and I was out $180 for a tool that looks pretty hanging on the pegboard but that's about it. Honestly I feel like half my tool collection is just me being impulsive at the supply house when I'm in a hurry and then regretting it later.
