TIL lower temps actually taste better for most strains

I used to always crank my vape to like 410F because I thought higher temp meant bigger clouds and that was the point. But a buddy of mine who grows his own stuff sat me down last week and made me try his Mighty at 365F with some Blue Dream. He told me I was basically just roasting the herb and killing all the subtle flavors before I even got to taste em. Hit that first draw and I swear it tasted like blueberries and pine instead of just hot air. I thought he was full of it at first but I tried the same bud at my normal temp right after and it was way harsher and tasted like nothing. Now I'm wondering if I've been missing out on flavor for years. Does anybody else run different temps for different strains or am I late to the party?

Nah man, I gotta push back on this one. I've been vaping for years and I run my vape at 400-410F for everything, no exceptions. The whole "low temp for flavor" thing is overblown in my book. Sure, you get a hint of blueberry at 365F but you're leaving like half the active compounds behind. I've tested this with a buddy's lab reports and the difference in CBD and THC extraction between 365 and 400 is night and day. Plus most flower these days is cured so aggressively that the subtle flavor profile is already gone by the time it hits my grinder. If you're after a real heady high that knocks you sideways not a weak lil flavor wisp, crank it up and deal with a little harshness. That's just my two cents though.

Nah I was on your exact same page until like two months ago honestly. I thought low temp vaping was some hipster nonsense and that you had to hit 410+ to get anything worthwhile. Then I tried some Gelato at 365F and actually tasted the gas and sweet dough they talk about compared to my usual 400 which just tasted like burnt popcorn and regret. I still crank it up sometimes for the heavier body effect but now I run everything through a low temp session first to get the flavor then finish it off. Crazy how much I was missing just chasing clouds. You finding any specific strains that really change up at different temps?
