I dropped $2,500 on a new cutterhead for my old dredge and it's the best money I ever spent.
My production rate on the river job near St. Louis went up by almost 30% because it just chews through the clay and gravel. Anyone else seen a jump like that from a single part upgrade?

We had a similar thing happen on the Ohio last year. Swapped out the old worn-out pump impeller for a new high-grade one. Went from moving 80 yards an hour to a solid 110. That kind of jump makes the whole season different. It feels like you're finally not fighting your own gear.

People forget the math on downtime. A 30% speed boost means you finish weeks early, which saves a ton on crew pay and fuel. That cutterhead pays for itself way faster than just the extra yardage.
