inI dropped $2,500 on a new cutterhead for my old dredge and it's the best money I ever spent.
People forget the math on downtime. A 30% speed boost means you finish weeks early, which saves a ton on crew pay and fuel. That cutterhead pays for itself way faster than just the extra yardage.

inOverheard a contractor at the hardware store tell a new homeowner that 'paint is the cheapest upgrade you can buy.' It made me rethink my whole approach to my 1980s kitchen.
It's a classic case of good materials ruined by rushing the finish. People skip the prep work because it's boring, then act surprised when it peels. That shortcut mindset ruins way more than just cabinets.

inA guy at a gas station in Boise told me my 5.0 V8 was 'overkill for a daily driver' and for the next 6 months I secretly agreed with him, until I used it to pull his Chevy 2500 out of a ditch during a snowstorm last week.
My old pickup hauls more than any hatchback.

inI was convinced a 3/4-inch expansion gap was overkill for that 800-square-foot engineered job in a dry climate, but the homeowner's radiant heat system proved me wrong after the first seasonal change.
Actually, it's not a wild card if you test it with a good meter.

inMy uncle swore by the 'free hotel breakfast buffet lunchbox' trick and honestly, he was a genius
Yeah the timing thing is key. I read a whole article about how hotels actually plan for some food to go missing at the end of the service. They make more than they need because they'd rather have too much than run out for paying guests. So grabbing a couple things right as they're about to clear it is often seen as okay, or at least they look the other way. It's when people get greedy with giant containers that they start making rules.
