Update: My lead drafter insisted on using a single layer for everything in a 500-page set

The whole thing crashed when we tried to plot, so I had to rebuild the layer structure from scratch in Denver last Thursday. Anyone else have a boss who fights you on basic standards?

That exact thing happened at my last shop. A project manager kept overriding our layer setup to "save time." Ended up corrupting three major files right before a deadline. Had to pull two all-nighters to fix it, and the guy still didn't get why it was a problem. Some people just refuse to listen until everything breaks.

Man, I used to cut corners too until I saw a mess like @spencer199 described. Now I get why the rules matter.
