Pro tip: Activated charcoal keeps terrariums from getting stinky
I made a terrarium last week and after a few days, it started to smell weird (like rotten eggs, yuck). I read online that activated charcoal in the drainage layer helps with that. So I added some, and within a day, the smell was gone. My terrarium smells fresh now, and the plants are happy. Hope this helps someone!

Honestly I used to think that too but a thin layer really does it.
