Showerthought: I was painting my kitchen cabinets wrong for years

I was doing a second coat on my cabinets last week and noticed the paint was clumping. My neighbor, who used to work as a painter, saw me and said, 'You're not letting the primer dry all the way, are you?' I realized I was only waiting an hour between coats when the can said to wait four. Has anyone else had a primer dry time mess up a project?

Watched my brother try to paint his deck in direct summer sun once. The stain dried so fast it left weird lap marks everywhere, like tiger stripes. He had to sand the whole thing back down and start over after sunset. It's crazy how the weather can mess with dry times just as much as rushing.
