Serious question, I've seen a lot of DIY kitchen herb walls lately.
I noticed many friends are putting up simple shelves with pots for herbs. It saves counter space and looks nice. I took some old wooden crates and hung them near the window. Fresh basil and mint are always on hand now.

Check the bottom of those crates too. Mine started to sag in the middle after a few months. The wood got soft from the damp pots sitting on it. Had to add a thin piece of scrap wood underneath as a brace. Did you reinforce yours at all?

You used old wooden crates? And they're holding pots with dirt? That seems risky, are they actually sturdy enough?
What if they get wet from watering?

Actually, @wendy_green85 has a solid point about water being a problem. But the real killer might be the old nails or staples holding the crate together. Those can rust out way before the wood itself gives up, and then the whole thing just comes apart. You gotta check for metal bits that are already flaky or loose. Once that happens, the weight of the wet soil and plants will finish the job fast.
