Why do so many people skip the functional capacity evaluation step?
I see folks on here filing claims without ever having a proper FCE done. My lawyer in Fresno told me straight up that Social Security nearly always asks for one if you're under 50. I spent $350 on mine through a local occupational therapist and it documented exactly why I can't stand for more than 20 minutes. Anyone else find that a good FCE was the key piece of evidence for their approval?

Nah, mine was a total waste... just an opinion not proof of anything.

Oh come on, "just an opinion" can still be pretty solid proof if you think about it. Like, if enough people share the same opinion, doesn't that kind of become evidence of something? What makes you say yours was a total waste?

Oh boy, I hear you on that. In my experience, group opinions can sometimes point to a pattern, but they're still just that - opinions. Like, if a bunch of people all say a certain restaurant's food gave them a bad stomach, that's worth paying attention to, but it's not the same as a health inspector finding rat droppings in the kitchen. Your mileage may vary on whether that adds up to "proof" or just a really strong hunch. For me, my "waste" was a renovation job where everyone I talked to swore a certain contractor was the best, but he left me with a half-done patio and a leaky roof. Take that with a grain of salt, but that's why I'm picky about what I call solid evidence.
