Vent: That co-working space in Chiang Mai lost my hard drive

Was working out of this place near the old city for about 2 weeks, left my external drive on the desk while I grabbed coffee. Came back 10 minutes later and it was gone. No cameras in that corner, reception just shrugged at me. Lost about 6 months of client files and some personal photos. How do you guys back stuff up when you're bouncing between spots like this?

and honestly man, this is brutal but also a solid reminder. I do the same thing where I get too comfortable in a spot and forget that people suck. I'm a big fan of just keeping a small SD card in my wallet, everything syncs to that and then I've got a cloud copy too. Takes like 5 minutes to set up and saves you from exactly this headache.

Third coffee shop in two years taught me this the hard way. I lost a whole pitch deck plus three years of wedding photos in Bali to a stolen laptop. Now I run a two-drive system: a tiny 128GB flash drive that never leaves my keychain, and nightly uploads to a cloud folder for anything critical. The flash drive is my "working copy" so if something walks off, I only lose the last few hours. Also started photographing my desk setup every morning with my phone, timestamp and all. Takes fifteen seconds, and if something vanishes, I've got proof of exactly what was there.
