Ran into a familiar face from online meetings at a Bali hostel
Was settling in when I saw someone I only knew from video calls (pretty weird moment). It shows how your work and travel lives can collide.

Happened to me at an airport once. Just said hey and had a quick normal chat, way less weird than I thought it would be.

Totally get what you mean, @henry101. Had the same thing happen when I saw a football player at my gate last year. Just gave a nod and said I was a fan, and we talked about the upcoming game for two minutes. Felt completely normal, just like chatting with any other person waiting around. Built it up in my head to be this huge awkward thing, but it was fine. Makes you realize they probably just want a boring flight like everyone else.

That hostel in Canggu is such a small world spot for this. I see posts like this and wonder why we make such a big deal about it. It's just another person you sort of know, not a celebrity. The whole "colliding worlds" thing feels overblown. You say hi, you talk about the bad hostel wifi for a minute, and then you both go back to your own stuff. It's not that deep.
