Letting go of my strict work hours made remote life way better
I mean, I used to think sticking to a fixed schedule was key to being productive on the road. Idk, maybe it made me feel more in control or something. But then in Porto, I missed out on a local festival because I was glued to my laptop during 'work hours'. After that, I tried being more flexible with my time. Now, if there's a morning market or a chance to explore, I'll shift my work to later. It sounds small, but not feeling tied to the clock has been a real win for my happiness. I get my work done fine, and I actually experience the places I'm in. Maybe it's just me, but changing my mind on this has made the nomad thing feel way more sustainable.

My old routine was so strict I once missed my own birthday party because it fell outside my "approved fun window." You're totally right about trading fake control for real life. I had to learn that lesson the hard way too, after a few too many sunsets spent staring at a spreadsheet instead of the actual sky. Letting that clock rule you just makes everything feel like another chore. Now if something good pops up, I just move the work blocks around like puzzle pieces. It's not perfect, but man, it beats watching life happen from behind a screen.

This is a bigger trade off than people admit. We often pick the fake control of a strict routine over actual good experiences. Letting go of that is how life gets interesting.
