A local in Chiang Mai told me to always carry a spare power bank

I was working from a cafe near Nimman last month and my laptop died right before a client call. A Thai guy named Pong at the next table saw me panic and handed me his 20,000 mAh power bank. He said he always carries two because power cuts happen a lot in the old city. Has anyone else picked up a small habit like that from a local which saved you later?

Honestly my friend Mark learned to keep a small roll of duct tape in his bag from a fisherman in Lisbon. The guy used it for everything, from fixing a torn raincoat to a broken sandal strap. Mark laughed at first but then his backpack strap snapped on a hike in Scotland last year. He said that stupid tape roll was the only thing that got him back to town.

Ever think duct tape was just for messy repairs? I used to see it as a last resort, but hearing stories like Mark's makes you realize it's real emergency gear. That little roll can turn a disaster into just a bad day.
