The worst day for old maps I've had in years happened last Tuesday

I picked up a 1950s road map of Texas at a garage sale for $3. Got it home and realized someone had drawn a whole new highway system over it in blue pen, right across the actual printed roads. Every single route was wrong. It wasn't even a funny mistake, just some guy's fantasy road trip. I was hoping for a dated border or a renamed town, not someone's art project. Has anyone else dealt with a map that was ruined by the previous owner's doodles?

Oh man, that's brutal. Someone took a perfectly good vintage Texas map and turned it into their personal interstate fantasy league. I'd be just as ticked off if I found a 1950s map with a bunch of fake roads scribbled all over it, especially for three bucks. At least they could have used a pencil so you could erase it, but no, they went permanent blue pen like they were mapping out their own private highway to nowhere. Hope you didn't pay more than a quarter for that mess.

Honestly, you kinda changed my mind on this one. I used to think any old map had some charm even with doodles, but permanent blue pen is a whole different level of disrespect. That stuff soaks right into the paper and there's no coming back from it. Three bucks for a ruined vintage piece feels like a straight up scam, not a bargain.
