My backpack zipper gave out at the worst possible moment in a crowded subway car
I was packed into the 6 train during rush hour (you know, sardine-style) when I felt my main compartment zipper just... split open. My water bottle rolled out and hit some guy's foot, and then my notebook and pens scattered everywhere between people's legs. I had to do this awkward crab-walk to grab stuff while apologizing to like 10 strangers. Has anyone else had a zipper fail on them during a commute? I'm thinking of switching to a roll-top bag just to avoid this nightmare again.

Respectfully gotta disagree with the universe humble-brag here. A busted zipper is annoying, sure, but it's just a zipper breaking from being overstuffed or worn out, not some cosmic lesson. If anything, it's a sign you should probably replace your bag before the next trip instead of reading too deep into it. Have you looked at a tote with a buckle closure or something easy to grab?

That "crab-walk of shame" is such a specific subway nightmare (I'm cringing just picturing it). It makes me think how we all rely on these little mechanical things like zippers and buttons, and they always seem to fail at the exact moment when you have zero room to fix them. Probably the universe's way of reminding us that no matter how organized we think we are, a busted zipper can humble you in three seconds flat.
