My email got hijacked in 2010 from a dumb password choice
It blasted scam links to my whole address book. These days I have a password manager and freak out if I even think about repeating a login.

Remember when "password123" actually felt like a solid security choice? My 2010 self would be horrified that I now have a 20-character nonsense string for my grocery delivery login. The paranoia is real.

My password manager once suggested something with fourteen random symbols, and I had to reset it immediately because my own brain refused to store it. We've gone from protecting state secrets to just trying to stop someone from ordering almond milk on our dime.

My own master password is 18 characters mixing letters and numbers. I let the manager auto-fill everything now, so I never actually type the crazy ones. It's the only way to handle the kind of paranoia @alexh88 described without going insane.
