PSA: When crane inspections run late, push ahead or hold position?

I've seen crews divided: some move forward to keep the job on track, others insist on waiting for the all-clear. How do you handle it?

At a hospital expansion in Denver, our insurance auditor told us one failed inspection can void coverage for the whole lift. If you move the crane without the green tag, any accident becomes an uninsured event. That means the company eats all costs, from equipment damage to worker comp. I've seen premiums double after just one claim from a rushed job. Waiting a few hours now can save millions later. It's not just safety, it's financial survival.

Come on, is it really that black and white? I get the point about insurance, but auditors always say stuff like that to scare you. Most of the time, nothing happens if you're careful and know what you're doing. A small delay can snowball into huge costs and missed deadlines too. Isn't the real world usually about balancing risk, not just following every rule to the letter?

Seeing crews split on this reminds me of how we all deal with rushed decisions. It's like when you're running late and debate skipping a safety check on your car. The short-term gain never outweighs the potential disaster. We've normalized cutting corners until something goes wrong. Holding position might slow the job, but it builds a habit of caring about the foundation.
