Finally got the hang of spotting a 2-inch drift on a 300-foot boom in a steady crosswind...
My foreman in Tulsa said to watch the load's shadow on the ground instead of the hook, and after three tries, it clicked. Anyone else have a visual trick for lining up a blind pick?

Seems like overkill for a tiny drift.

Have you ever seen a small drift turn into a full spin because it wasn't caught early? That tiny drift on a highway can mean you're inches from the next lane. A quick correction keeps you safe and stops it from getting worse. It's not overkill, it's just good control.

Totally get what you're saying. Last winter my car started sliding a bit on black ice, just a small thing. A fast, small turn of the wheel back straight stopped a full slide into the ditch. Letting it go even a second longer would have been bad news.
