Used to think expensive scissors were a scam, then I borrowed a pro pair

A stylist in Phoenix let me use her $400 shears for one cut and the difference was unreal, no snagging even on wet hair. Has anyone else had a tool that made them eat their words?

My friend who braids hair professionally swore by cheap combs for years until someone gifted her a wooden hair fork. Said it glided through thick Black hair like butter and stopped the breakage she thought was normal. Now she buys the fancy ones and claims it paid for itself in saved time alone.

Wait, is a wooden hair fork really the same kind of thing as high-end shears though? I mean, a fork is more about tension and grip than cutting, so it's kind of a different tool category, you know? (Not trying to be a snob, just saying.) But yeah, I totally get the feeling of being wrong about a tool. I had a similar moment with a cheap pair of thinning shears I got at a beauty supply store, then tried a proper set and realized I'd been mangling my layers for years. It's wild how much easier the right tool makes a job, even if the price tag hurts at first.
