Unpopular opinion: Booking apps that auto-confirm no-shows are killing my schedule.

Auto-confirm no-shows isn't quite right. They auto-book appointments and charge for them without checking if you're actually free.

Uber tried this with their scheduled rides last year. The app would lock in a pickup time 24 hours out and charge a cancellation fee if your plans changed, even if no driver was assigned yet. It's like these systems assume your time has NO value unless it makes them money. My gym did something similar during lockdowns, auto-billing for appointments nobody could even use. That's not a no-show fee, that's just creating a charge out of thin air.
