I'm done with the 'always cut wet' rule for certain hair types
For years I cut everyone's hair wet because that's what I was taught in school. About 8 months ago, a client with super curly, dry hair came in and I saw how much her hair shrank up after it dried. I started cutting her hair dry first to see the real shape, then doing a wet trim to clean it up. The difference was huge, she got a cut that actually worked for her natural texture. I know a lot of stylists say wet cutting is the only way, but for tight curls or really dry hair, starting dry gives you a better picture. Has anyone else switched up their method for specific textures?

Rules are just starting points, not finish lines.

Tell that to my GPS, which I ignore like bell.taylor ignores speed limits.

Yeah but you still gotta follow them. Otherwise everything's chaos.
