PSA: My lawyer told me to settle a shareholder dispute for $15,000 and I said no
I had a minority shareholder in my small business who kept pushing for a buyout at an inflated price. My attorney at Smith & Associates said to just pay the $15k to avoid litigation costs. I pushed back and took it to a bench trial in Larimer County, and the judge sided with me completely - ended up paying nothing. Has anyone else had a lawyer give advice that felt too quick to settle?

Doesn't that kind of advice just feel like lawyers are covering their own risk instead of fighting for you? They'd rather you take the easy payout than actually see if you've got a strong case to stand on. It's good you trusted your gut and took it to trial, sometimes you've got to push past the safe option to get what's fair.
