inJust realized the new coffee shop downtown has a whole wall of board games
Totally agree, it's all about curation. I saw an interview with a cafe owner who said they treat their game shelf like a mixtape, you know? Every game needs a reason to be there, something that makes people want to pick it up. A place with just the basics feels lazy, like they don't care if you have a good time. That community input is a smart move, it means they're actually listening to what players want. What's the best new game you've tried at a spot like that?

inFinally gave in and bought that $300 cordless ratchet, and it's a whole new world
Man, you just paid the 'should've done it sooner' tax, lol.

inTried a magnesium float versus a steel one on a 30-yard pour last Thursday.
Man I read somewhere that the water spray trick can actually make the top layer weaker if you get it wrong. They said it's better to cool the actual mix itself if you can, like with chilled water or even tossing some ice in the truck. But yeah, when you're out there and the clock's ticking, you'll try anything. Seen a crew once use those big shade tarps just to block the sun while they finished the finish work.

inI used to write checks for my rent every month, but my landlord in Phoenix just switched to an app that takes a 3% fee. Now I'm looking at other ways to pay.
Tell your landlord that app can take a 3% hike instead. Classic move to squeeze a little more out of you for the "convenience" of giving them money. Might be time to see if they'll take a bag of loose change, the fee on that is just the time it takes to count.
