Overheard a guy at the coffee shop going on about 'the real story' behind the 2020 election

I was grabbing my morning coffee last week and this guy at the next table was talking really loud to his friend. He was saying that he'd watched a 'documentary' on some video site that proved the voting machines were all rigged by a foreign company. He kept saying 'they don't want you to know the truth' and that the mainstream news was all in on it. It wasn't just that he believed it, it was HOW he said it, like he had this secret key to reality that nobody else did. It made me think about how these ideas spread. It's not about evidence you can check, it's about feeling special for knowing something 'they' don't. The whole thing felt more like a club than a search for facts. It's weird how the debate isn't even about the conspiracy itself anymore, it's about who you trust to tell you what's real. Has anyone else had a moment like that, where you saw the social pull of a theory more than the logic?

Sounds like that guy's secret decoder ring came with a free coffee. Must be nice to have all the answers before you've even finished your latte.
