Warning: I think the push for cloud backups is leaving some shops open to trouble
We ran a test at our shop in Tacoma for six months, comparing a local NAS backup against a popular cloud service for our repair ticket images and client data. The cloud option had a sync delay that caused us to lose a full day's work twice when a drive failed before the overnight upload. The local backup cost us $800 up front, but it's instant and we control it. Everyone says cloud is the future, but I need that data now, not in 12 hours. Has anyone else kept a strong local backup system and found it more reliable for daily ops?

Heard a similar story from a shop in Portland last month.

Yeah, my cousin in Seattle said the same thing happened at her local spot. It's rough out there.
