The obsession with manual driver installs needs to stop

It's a huge time sink... auto-updates cover most cases just fine. We should focus on real problems instead.

It really depends on your setup. Auto updates can break things on older or less common hardware. I've had to roll back audio drivers twice in the last year because the new version made my headset cut out. Manual installs are a pain, but sometimes they're the only fix that works.

Actually rolling back drivers is way easier than a full manual install. Windows keeps the old version for a bit. You just go into device manager, pick the driver tab, and hit "roll back driver". It takes like two minutes. Saved me when a new GPU driver made my second monitor go black.

Ugh, that sounds so annoying. Is your headset working okay now? I swear driver updates are just a gamble sometimes.
