Showerthought: A client in Phoenix made me see thermal paste differently

I was fixing an old gaming rig for a guy, and he asked why I used so little paste. He said his buddy always slathers it on 'for good contact.' I explained that a thin, even spread is actually better for heat transfer, and his face just lit up. He had been doing it wrong for years. Has anyone else had a client who was totally convinced about a wrong repair method?
