My brother and I fight over the grind size, but that's what makes our morning coffee ritual real.

Used to drive me nuts when my dad and I would bicker about the exact same thing. Reading your post flipped a switch for me though. That little daily argument isn't a problem, it's the whole point. Makes me miss fighting with my brother over the radio station on long drives. You ever find the bickering is what you remember fondly later?

That line about the radio station fights is so true. I mean, now when I hear certain songs from back then, it's not the song I remember first, it's my sister yelling "not this again!" and the whole car smell of road trip snacks. The thing we fought about just becomes the button that turns the memory on. Idk, maybe it's just me but I miss knowing someone well enough to pick a fight over nothing.

Knowing someone well enough to pick a fight over nothing" is the real truth. I still get a weird pang of nostalgia when I see a certain brand of gum, because it reminds me of my best friend who always chewed it loudly just to annoy me. I guess we miss the people we could be comfortably annoying with.
