My compost bin lid flew off and hit the neighbor's cat

I was trying to aerate my backyard compost pile in Denver yesterday when a big gust of wind caught the lid. It sailed right over the fence and bonked Mr. Whiskers, who was napping on their patio. What's the best way to weigh down a compost bin lid in a windy area?

Ngl, the lid "bonked Mr. Whiskers" is the part I can't get over. Honestly, try a couple of cinder blocks on the corners.

Cinder blocks are the only thing that works. My neighbor's lid flew into my car last year, left a real dent.

Oh man, that reminds me of when my trash can lid took out a whole bird feeder. Wind here is no joke. I just use a big rock now, the kind you can't even lift.
