Warning: That house in Portland last Tuesday had a live raccoon nest in the flue

I showed up for a routine cleaning and found three babies hissing at me halfway up the liner. Anyone else ever run into wildlife mid-job and have to call it off?

wait THREE of them?? nah i wouldve noped right out of there too, no way im dealing with a whole angry raccoon family by myself

Honestly I'm with @reese_bell on this one, three hissing raccoon babies is a hard pass from me too. Tbh wildlife calls are no joke, a mother raccoon nearby would make that situation way worse real quick. Ngl I'd rather reschedule and let animal control handle it than get scratched up for a routine job.

Yeah man I get your point about calling animal control, but just a heads up - most animal control won't touch raccoons. At least not here in the city. They usually say it's a private pest control thing unless the animal is actually injured or sick. So if you reschedule, you might be waiting on nobody. I've dealt with a few raccoon jobs and honestly, the hissing is mostly bluff. They're scared too. But yeah three babies and a mom somewhere close is a different story. I'd probably still take the job but I'd come back with a long pole and a thick blanket, not my bare hands.
