My neighbor's new prefab fireplace insert has me questioning our whole creosote removal method
I was helping him check the install last week and the manual said to only use a specific type of brush for the liner, not our standard wire ones. It got me thinking about whether we're too set in our ways with old tools for new systems. What's your go-to method for cleaning those modern, coated flues?

Man, you're right to question it. Those new liners can get wrecked by the wrong brush. I switched to the poly brushes for my own setup and it's a much cleaner job.

My cousin's installer told him the same thing last year. I saw firsthand how a steel brush left tiny scratches in his coated liner that started holding more gunk. I only use those softer poly brushes now, and they get the job done without any worry.
