Finally understood why my boss in Phoenix always insisted on a 24-hour acclimation period
Three years ago, I rushed a job in a new condo building there and skipped the full day of letting the carpet sit. The next week, the homeowner called about a huge ripple down the center of the living room. I had to go back and restretch the entire 400 square foot room, which took me half a day of unpaid labor. Has anyone else had a seam or stretch fail because you cut the acclimation time short?

Yeah, @leotaylor, those hygrometers are lifesavers.

That ripple story hits home. I had a seam pop on a big roll of vinyl plank in a sunroom last summer because I rushed it. The homeowner ran the AC full blast overnight after install, and the planks shrank just enough to open up a gap you could catch a shoe on. Now I always check the room's actual temp for a full day before I even unbox anything. What's the shortest time you've gotten away with when you were in a real bind?

Man, that sunroom AC story is brutal. I once had a basement job where the homeowner needed it done in 48 hours for a party. I let the boxes sit down there for a full 24, which felt like a huge risk, but the temp was steady. I was sweating bullets the whole time waiting for a call back. It held up, but I wouldn't try to cut it shorter than that. Do you ever use those digital hygrometers to track the humidity too?
