From tent loyalist to tarp convert after one windy weekend
What sold me was waking up dry and calm while tent campers were fighting flapping nylon and pooling water.

Tarps have their place in serious wind, but man you miss out on the full tent experience. Nothing beats having bug netting and a proper floor when the weather turns nasty. My tent feels like a little cozy room at the end of a long day, a tarp just feels like a roof. I'll take a bit of flapping for that comfort any time lol.

I get why you love that cozy room feeling, verah38, but for me that's exactly what I want to escape. Being under a tarp feels like you're still part of the world instead of shut inside a little box. You can always add a bug net and a piece of plastic for a floor on the rare nasty night, but most times the open air is worth it. All that tent flapping and condensation just makes me wish for the simple silence of a good tarp pitch. It's less about having a room and more about feeling the space around you, you know?

Ever read that book about tarp camping, @verah38, that changed my whole view?
