Pro tip: I keep seeing people use the wrong screwdriver size on the tiny screws holding a camera's top plate, which can strip them in seconds.

After fixing three stripped screw heads on a Nikon FM2 last week, I realized a lot of folks don't know that a JIS #00 driver is often needed, not a Phillips, so has anyone else run into this or have a favorite brand for those tiny drivers?

Actually, a lot of those screws are just cheap Phillips heads that strip easily no matter what. The whole JIS thing gets overblown online sometimes. A decent quality Phillips driver in the right size usually works fine if you're careful.

Wait you can actually strip JIS screws with a regular Phillips driver? @dylanwilliams that's wild, every time I've tried that it just chews up the head immediately. The fit feels totally wrong and it cams out. Maybe you got lucky with some weird screws, but proper JIS drivers grab way deeper.

Used to think JIS was just forum hype too. Then I rebuilt an old Honda carb and wrecked three screw heads with a brand new Phillips. Bought a cheap JIS driver on a whim and every single one came out like butter. The difference in bite is real on older Japanese stuff.
