PSA: I started using a cheap $8 laser level from Harbor Freight for marking drops and it cut my attic crawl time in half.

That's honestly such a smart move. I was crawling around up there last weekend marking joists with a chalk line and it was brutal. A laser would have saved my back and my sanity for sure.

My buddy tried one and now he swears by it for any quick layout work.

Sounds like a solution looking for a problem. A chalk line takes two seconds and costs five bucks. People just love buying new gadgets.
