I had a job last week where the customer's dog stole my coax crimper

I was doing a rewire in this old house in Springfield, and I set my tool bag down for maybe two seconds. This little terrier mix comes out of nowhere, grabs my coax crimper right out of the open pouch, and just bolts. The owner is chasing him, I'm chasing the owner, and the dog is having the time of his life thinking it's a new toy. We finally corner him in the kitchen, and he's just sitting there with the crimper in his mouth, tail wagging. The owner was so sorry, but honestly, it was pretty funny. I had to finish the job using my backup tool, which is never as good. Has anyone else had a pet decide your gear was part of their playtime?

Remember my cousin's cat swiping a whole roll of fiber optic cable like it was a ball of yarn! We found it completely unraveled through three rooms, the little guy just sitting proudly in the middle of the mess. Pets have a real talent for finding the most important, most expensive thing to claim as a toy. Your story about the terrier is hilarious, though at least he didn't actually damage the tool! Makes for a great work story later.

Right? It's like they can sense the exact price tag on something. My cat once turned a whole box of business cards into confetti.

Oh man, that cat story is LEGENDARY. Makes my own pet disasters look tame. My old dog once stole a brand new pair of wireless earbuds right out of the box and buried them in the yard. Took me a WEEK to find them, and they were completely ruined. Guess I should be thankful he didn't go for the actual fiber optic cables, that's next level chaos. Pets really do have a radar for the priciest thing in the room.
