Shoutout to the regular who brought her son in to see the shop
A woman named Maria came in yesterday with her boy, maybe 8 years old, and asked if I could show him how I break down a chicken. I did a quick demo on the block, and the kid was totally focused. When I finished, Maria looked at him and said, 'See? That's a real skill, not just cutting meat.' It stuck with me because you don't always hear that. Anyone else have a customer moment that made you feel good about the craft?

It's nice and all, but maybe we're making too big a deal out of it. @james_martin93's story is sweet, but it's still just showing someone how to do a job. It feels like people want a pat on the back for basic stuff sometimes.

We had a dad bring his daughter in last year to see our sausage making setup. I walked them through the whole grind and link process, and she asked the best questions about the spices. The dad emailed me later to say she talked about it for weeks.

Remember how boring most grown-ups made stuff seem when you were a kid? That's why this stuff matters. It's not about the job, it's about making something real and interesting click for a kid. That spark when they get it is everything. I had a nephew visit my shop once and his eyes just lit up the whole time. He still brings it up every holiday. Those moments stick.
