Rant: Customer brought in a deer that was shot 3 hours prior

Had a guy roll up with a whitetail he shot at 6am but didn't drag it out till 9. The meat was already souring near the wound channels. Told him he needs to gut and cool it within 30 minutes or this happens every time. Anyone else deal with hunters who drag their feet on field dressing?

My buddy runs a small processing shop and he started handing out a simple one page sheet with every deer tag sale. It just says "gut it within 30 minutes or you're risking the whole animal" in big bold letters. He also printed a little checklist for what to bring in the field like nitrile gloves and a knife sharpener. After the first season he said complaints dropped by like half. We also started charging an extra $25 if the meat is already souring when they drop it off. That really got people's attention real fast. It sounds harsh but it's the only way to actually teach some of these guys who won't listen to advice.

That $25 surcharge is genius, @irisw73, though I've seen guys argue over less at the check-in counter.
