Bought a $120 tenderizer gun that barely does anything, stick to the mallet

Picked one up online after seeing it in a reel, used it on a chuck roast last Tuesday and it just made holes without breaking down the fibers, so now I'm back to the $8 wooden mallet and asking if anyone else got scammed by one of these gadgets?

Man, what a waste of cash. Same thing happened to me with a pork shoulder, just poked holes and left it tough as a boot. The mallet actually smashes the fibers flat, that's the whole trick. Whoever invented that gun never cooked a day in their life.

Dude I watched my buddy try that same thing on a brisket and he ended up chewing on it for like 20 minutes. He was so mad he threw the whole gun in the trash after. @robin_foster1 you're spot on about the mallet, that thing actually does something.
